Subaru PH set to launch the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid at PIMS 2026

Earlier this month, we were told by a source in the industry that Subaru Philippines would be introducing the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid, and the automaker has just confirmed that this will be the headline of its 2026 Philippine International Motor Show this June 4 to 7 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The Subaru Crosstrek e-Boxer doesn’t utilize the same hybrid system as the Forester Hybrid, with the latter using the Strong Hybrid System that utilizes a series-parallel hybrid system similar to those found in the Toyota Hybrid system.

In fact, a listing on the Department of Energy’s list of Recognized EVs shows that it will be coming in one variant, the 2.0 i-S EyeSight Hybrid AWD CVT, and that the e-Boxer Hybrid System uses an electrified 2.0-liter flat-four boxer gasoline engine with an electric motor that produces 16 horsepower and 66Nm of torque, mated to a 0.57kWh lithium-ion battery.

Total power output is 150 horsepower and 196Nm of torque, with the Lineartronic CVT sending power to Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD with the Dual X-Mode traction system, and the e-Boxer system can also go drive in pure electric mode, albeit not as long as the Forester HEV.

Subaru has revealed a handful of key features to distinguish it from the standard Crosstrek, such as 220mm of ground clearance, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, beefed-up roof rails, fog lamps with extra garnishing, and exclusive colors in Citron Yellow Pearl and Sand Dune Pearl.

Inside, this comes with “mountain range” motif sill plates, a 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, a power sunroof, aluminum pedals, and the usual 11.6-inch portrait infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, plus a 10W wireless phone charger.

Of course, this comes with the EyeSight suite of advanced driver assistance systems, now on version 4.0 with an upgraded wide-angle monocular camera with improved detection for pedestrians and bicycles, and the Emergency Driving Stop System, which safely brings the car to a stop if it detects an incapacitated driver.

As one can say, it’s better late than never for Subaru Philippines, under Motor Image Pilipinas, its official distributor, to bring this in, and it is also a landmark launch for Subaru as it is its first year as part of being a member of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), and its first time to participate in the Philippine International Motor Show.
