Mitsubishi gives a sneak peek at the upcoming Pajero’s ladder frame chassis

With the clock ticking for the launch of the new-generation Mitsubishi Pajero, one of the most anticipated vehicle reveals in the world, the Japanese automaker is slowly beginning to release a few more details for the upcoming flagship SUV.

We already know a handful of aspects like what it will be based on and what legacy features it will retain, and now we are getting a sneak peek at what’s underneath it. Mitsubishi says that the all-new Pajero will “deliver authentic off-road capability while offering a refined, comfortable ride.”

One thing already previously revealed is that the Mitsubishi Pajero will return to using a ladder frame chassis, going away from the last two generations’ monocoque platform. Derived from the Mitsubishi Triton instead of a bespoke platform like before, it has been raising some concerns among enthusiasts. 

Despite that, Mitsubishi promises that it will be as capable as ever, especially with a suspension system that’s designed to tackle rough terrain with large bumps and impacts, but also be able to suppress unwanted body movement and vibrations on rough or uneven roads, hinting at a potential adaptive damper solution.

It’s also confirmed that the SUV will be utilizing the Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) advanced full-time four-wheel drive system that debuted on the Lancer Evolution X and was last seen on the Outlander PHEV, with an active control differential, active yaw control, and other aspects that Mitsubishi will potentially announce in the future.

This is an exciting time to be a full-size SUV fan, especially with legacy nameplates making a return after so long like the Mitsubishi Pajero, said to finally be making its global launch this coming September. Are you excited?
