The Toyota Gazoo Racing PH Cup Race Weekend 3 successfully made its debut at Batangas Racing Circuit

Toyota Motor Philippines and the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup made their first successful Race Weekend 3 last August 15. This season is, so far, a season of firsts, as it held the first leg at the Riverpark Cavite street circuit, switched to biofuels during the second race weekend held at the Clark International Speedway, and made its debut at the Batangas Racing Circuit for the first time in its 13-year run.

Also, the use of biofuels continued here, where the Vios one-make race car (OMR) still uses the same E20 bio-ethanol gasoline blend, while the Tamaraw one-make race car (OMR) continues to be powered by the B5 coco-biodiesel blend.

Compared to the long straights and sweeping corners of the speed-focused Clark International Speedway, the Batangas Racing Circuit is a more technical, handling-focused circuit that demands more out of the vehicles and the drivers, especially with the tight corners and multiple hairpin turns for more overtaking opportunities.

Multiple racing incidents and action happened, with a multi-car collision during the first mixed-class Vios Sprint Race, leading many racers to be put out of the running. This especially happened with the Tamaraw Sprint Races, where accidents affected the likes of Enzo Ison, Will Lucas, Jesse Garcia, and Russel Reyes, with the latter two getting taken out of the races.

“Batangas Racing Circuit is a true racer’s track—fast, technical, and relentlessly demanding. For drivers who trust their craft, BRC has long been a dream circuit: a place that tests both skill and courage,”  shared TMP President Masando Hashimoto. “As BRC celebrates its 30th anniversary, I am incredibly proud that TMP was able to bring the TGR Philippine Cup here for the very first time.”

The final leg of the TGR Philippine Cup will take place from September 10 to 12 and will return to the Clark International Speedway. Of course, admission is free, and you can catch it live on Toyota Motor Philippines and Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines’ Facebook pages if you can’t make it.
