Less than two years after entering the Philippine market, Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) is already updating its B-segment crossover offering, the CS35 Plus. For the 2022 model year, the Changan CS35 Plus gets a heavily revised exterior and interior.

Unlike the pre-facelift model it replaces, the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus is now available in three variants, the Lite, Hype, and Luxe.

So what’s new? First, the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus, as mentioned earlier, gets a heavily revised exterior, putting it in line with other Changan models such as the CS75 Plus which is also sold locally. The front fascia is now more aggressive with its new headlights which go into the new and larger front grille. No changes have been made on the CS35 Plus’s side profile while the rear on the other hand gets an updated set of taillight clusters.

Standard exterior equipment, starting from the entry-level Lite variant are LED headlights and daytime running lights, power-folding side mirrors with heated function, LED taillights, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Going for the mid-grade Hype variant adds 18-inch alloy wheels while going for the top-spec Luxe gives a two-tone exterior color with a black roof and a power tailgate.

Inside, the Changan CS35 Plus is also heavily updated. The dashboard is completely new with a more modern and cleaner layout, also similar to that of the CS75 Plus. It also gets new tech and comfort features, and even a two-tone red and black interior.

Standard interior equipment, starting from the entry-level Lite are leather seats, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charger, and a 10-inch break code screen (digital). Going for the Hype and Luxe variants add a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, rear airconditioning vents, and a panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood, the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus received a carry-over engine from the pre-facelift model. It is powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder that now produces 160 horsepower (+2 hp) and 260 Nm of torque (+25 Nm). This is paired to a 7-speed (wet-type) dual-clutch transmission.

For safety, the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus gets dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program, brake assist, hill hold control, hill descent control, tire pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors, blind-spot view camera and monitor, and ISOFIX Childseat Anchors all as standard. Hype and Luxe variants add side and side curtain airbags, and a 360-degree around-view monitor. Those two variants are also equipped with forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Again, the 2022 Changan CS35 Plus is now available in three variants. Pricing is as follows:

  • 1.4 DCT Lite – Php 898,000
  • 1.4 DCT Hype – Php 969,000
  • 1.4 DCT Luxe – Php 999,000

Available colors are Timber Wolf Gray, Wunderlust White, and Draco Red.

Customers who purchase a new Changan CS35 Plus will also be able to take advantage of the brand’s 5-year/150,000 km warranty, roadside assistance and towing service, and free PMS labor for the 1st year or 20,000 km.

Now that’s competitive. What do you think? You can now check-out the new Changan CS35 Plus Lite and Hype at all 35 Changan dealers nationwide. The top-spec Luxe will follow soon.
