Lexus PH confirms all-new ES will arrive as hybrid and BEV, launches in PH this August

It’s no secret that Lexus Philippines will be launching the all-new ES in our market this year, announced as one of the two models (the other being the new IS that has already launched) that they’ll be introducing within the year, at a media gathering back in January.
And as we approach the official introduction of the midsize luxury sedan’s latest iteration, its eighth since it first came into being in 1989, the Japanese luxury automaker has officially made confirmation on some important bits about it.
Just as we found out over the past few months thanks to available public information, the Lexus ES will be available locally as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) for the first time ever. And now, Lexus Philippines has officially confirmed that it will also be available as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV).
While no specifications have been confirmed, the BEV variant, which could be called the ES 350e, will likely be powered by a single front-mounted electric motor that produces 227 horsepower, and should be capable of driving up to 685km on a single full charge with a 74.68kWh lithium-ion battery.
Meanwhile, recent government filings tell us that the hybrid version will come in two variants–the ES 350h Executive and ES 350h Luxury. Both could come powered by a 2.5-liter engine paired to an electric motor and 1kWh battery, making a combined 247 horsepower.
Lexus Philippines says that it will announce more details about the all-new ES closer to its launch, set to happen this coming month of August.
