Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is certainly aggressive. Alongside the launch of the refreshed Honda Brio, the Japanese automaker has also introduced the updated version of its subcompact sedan entry, the Honda City.

For the 2024 model year, the Honda City receives a handful of exterior and interior changes, as well as getting Honda’s suite of advanced driver-assistance systems for safer drives, known as Honda SENSING, on all variants.

The 2024 Honda City is available in a total of four (4) different variants starting from the entry-level 1.5 E CVT which makes a return for this model year, followed by the carried-over 1.5 S CVT, 1.5 V CVT, and 1.5 RS CVT variants.

Anyway, in terms of design, the 2024 Honda City looks largely similar to the pre-refresh version with minor differences such as new front grille designs with horizontal slats for the E, S, and V, and a honeycomb pattern for the RS. It also gets an updated front bumper and new interior trim.

Standard exterior equipment starting from the entry-level 1.5 E CVT variant are halogen projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, chrome front grille, and 15-inch steel wheels. Moving up to the 1.5 S CVT adds 15-inch alloy wheels. Going for the 1.5 V CVT gives you halogen fog lights, power folding side mirrors with integrated turn signal, chrome door handles, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Finally, getting the top-spec 1.5 RS CVT adds full LED headlights, LED fog lights, Sport front and rear bumpers, gloss black RS Design front grille, gloss black side mirrors, gloss black rear spoiler, gloss black antenna, and two-tone black and silver 16-inch alloy wheels.

Exterior color options are Meteoroid Gray Metallic for all variants; Ignite Red Metallic for RS, V, and S; Obsidian Blue Pearl (new) and Platinum White Pearl, for RS and V; and Taffeta White and Lunar Silver Metallic for S and E.

As for standard interior equipment, starting from the 1.5 E CVT, these are fabric seats, 2DIN audio head unit, 4-speaker audio system, push button start, and 4.2-inch TFT color meter. Moving up to the 1.5 S CVT adds an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Going for the 1.5 V CVT adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, automatic climate control, rear aircon vents, and gloss black interior accents. Finally, the 1.5 RS CVT gives you leather seats, RS stitching, dark red trim, 8-speaker audio system, rear center armrest, and sport pedals.

The 2024 Honda City remains powered by the same engine under the hood. For this, it’s a 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder DOHC L15 i-VTEC gasoline engine that produces 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, paired to an Earth Dreams continuously variable transmission (CVT). That is still one of, if not the most powerful engine in the segment.

Safety gets a huge upgrade for the Honda City lineup as mentioned earlier, all variants now come standard with Honda SENSING, the Japanese automaker’s suite of advanced driver-assistance technology. This gives it Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beams, and Lead Car Departure Notification.

Other standard safety features are Dual Front Airbags, Side Airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Vehicle Stability Assist, Agile Handling Assist, Hill Start Assist, and ISOFIX Child Seat Anchors. Exclusive to the 1.5 RS CVT are Side Curtain Airbags.

With all that information, you’re probably wondering how much the 2024 Honda City costs. That is as follows:

  • 1.5 E CVT Honda SENSING – Php 973,000
  • 1.5 S CVT Honda SENSING – Php 998,000
  • 1.5 V CVT Honda SENSING – Php 1,073,000
  • 1.5 RS CVT Honda SENSING – Php 1,128,000

As with other Honda models available locally, buyers will be able to take advantage of a 3-year or 100,000 km (whichever comes first) vehicle warranty.
