Volvo PH goes pure electric, launches C40 and XC40 Recharge models

3 min read

As one of the first automakers to push for electrification in the Philippine automotive market with its lineup of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, Volvo Philippines is taking it further by going pure electric with its two latest models.

The Swedish luxury automaker has just launched the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge “twin” models which join the premium EV scene with models from other premium brands.

Our pure electric Volvo C40 and XC40 Recharge are siblings that carry the trademark Volvo DNA of safety, quality, and sustainability. Yet even identical twins still have different personalities, as does our all-electric duo. One thing for sure is that both Volvos are designed to provide our customers with the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way,” shares Volvo PH President and CEO, Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla.

Powering the two models is Volvo’s twin-motor electric powertrain that sends 408 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque to all four wheels. The C40 Recharge can go from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.7 seconds while the XC40 Recharge does the same in 4.9 seconds. Driving range for both models is 549 km and 547 km, respectively. Also, DC fast charging allows the vehicle to charge from 10% to 80% in just 27 minutes.

In terms of looks and features, both the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge have several similarities. Their design is undeniably Volvo with the signature Thor’s Hammer headlights with Pixel Light technology, and the frameless front grille plate. Differentiating the two is the rear roof line where the C40 Recharge gets a coupé-like sloping roof while the XC40 Recharge is a more traditional crossover.

Both also share a similar interior design, taking cues from other models in the Volvo lineup with its rather simple setup but with premium touches all around. Also as with the rest of the lineup, the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge make use of environment-friendly materials.

Standard equipment on both are full LED exterior lighting, 19-inch alloy wheels, black side window trim, gloss black roof rails, body-colored front grille cover, a panoramic sunroof (XC40), panoramic glass roof (C40), 12-inch driver display, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a Harman Kardon audio system, among others.

For safety where Volvo is known for, these two models do not make any compromises as they are fully-equipped with stuff like adaptive cruise control, road sign information, lane keeping aid, oncoming lane mitigation, blindspot information system and rear cross traffic alert, and pilot assist, among others.

The 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge is priced at Php 3,990,000 while the 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge is priced at Php 4,190,000 which are both very competitive.

Buyers will also be able to take advantage of an 8-year battery warranty, 5-year roadside assistance, and a 3-year comprehensive vehicle warranty. In addition, they will also get 1 wallbox charger and unlimited digital update service.

The Volvo pure electric C40 and XC40 Recharge models will pave the way for more people to enjoy the full electric mobility experience. Both models are superior in terms of power, range, charging speed, and battery capacity. Even more enticing is that all these features are tied up in the most competitive ownership package in the whole industry,” said Volvo PH Marketing Director Chris Lee Yu.
