2024 Hyundai Creta revealed in India

3 min read

Last week we wrote about a major refresh coming to the Hyundai Creta. Fast forward to today, the Korean automaker has fully revealed the refreshed model and it’s way more than we expected.

The Creta is one of Hyundai’s entries into the growing subcompact crossover segment. The current generation, first unveiled for the Chinese market in 2019 then the Indian market in 2020, was launched here in the Philippines in 2022 and is one of the brand’s most popular models today. This update brings major changes to the Indian market version.

The heavily revised Creta follows Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy taking cues from their other crossovers such as the Palisade and Santa Fe. Almost the entire exterior and interior have been redesigned with only the body and interior door panels showing that this is just a facelift.

Its exterior is much bolder and squarish compared to the outgoing model The front fascia gets a new radiator grill and upright hood design with what Hyundai calls Horizon LED positioning lights and daytime running lights, and quad beam LED headlights. The rear also does away with the uniquely styled LED taillights, in favor of a more simple but very modern set of full-width taillights.

Like what we saw in the teasers, its interior has received a huge update, departing from the current version’s Tucson-like design. Mainly noticeable is the dual 10.25-inch screen setup for the infotainment and instrument cluster which are seamlessly integrated with each other. The higher variant even features an 8-speaker Bose premium audio system.

Powering the Indian-market 2024 Hyundai Creta are three different engine options. First is a 1.5-liter MPi gasoline engine that produces 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). The second option is a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that makes 116 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Finally, a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine is also available, producing 160 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission

All powertrain options are also paired to an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), effectively making the new Hyundai Creta a mild-hybrid vehicle (MHEV). There are also three drive modes–Eco, Normal, and Sport; as well as three traction control modes–Snow, Sand, and Mud.

The new Hyundai Creta also comes equipped with a complete suite of Hyundai Smartsense Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). These are composed of Forward Collision Warning & Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Blind Spot Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Safe Exit Warning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go function, Lane Following Assist, High Beam Assist, and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert.

You’re probably wondering when this new Hyundai Creta will arrive in the Philippines. Well we’ll probably have to give Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) a bit more time given that the model was only launched in 2022. In addition, HMPH sources its Creta units from Indonesia which has its own version of the crossover. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long though.

What do you think of the newly refreshed Hyundai Creta?
