PHEV and BEV: The BYD Atto 2 launches in PH, price starts at Php 1.048M

It was no secret that the BYD Atto 2 is coming to the Philippines, ever since it was previewed at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) in battery electric vehicle (BEV) form. Shortly after, it was previewed at multiple roadshow events as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

And now, BYD Cars Philippines officially launches its newest subcompact crossover at the BYD Tech Tour in Ayala Malls Trinoma, expanding not only its plug-in hybrid DM-i lineup, but also its BEV lineup.

As we already know from previous reports, three variants are available for the BYD Atto 2 in the Philippines, across two powertrain options. These are as follows: 

• Atto 2 DM-i Dynamic – Php 1,048,000
• Atto 2 DM-i Premium – Php 1,258,000
• Atto 2 EV Premium – Php 1,338,000

The DM-i variants are powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that powers an electric motor. Combined output is 165 horsepower and 300Nm of torque, going to the front wheels. A 7.9kWh LFP battery allows for up to 45km of range on pure electric power, and up to 1,045km on a single full tank of gas and full charge.

Meanwhile, the Atto 2 EV gets a single front-mounted electric motor that produces a healthy 177 horsepower and 290Nm. With a 45.1kWh LFP battery, it’s estimated to drive up to 380km on a single full charge.

Apart from supporting Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality,  the Atto 2 EV’s battery can be replenished through 7kW Type 2 AC charging and 65kW CCS2 DC charging, the former charging from 0 to 100% in 7.4hours, and the latter charging from 10 to 80% in around 24 minutes. The Atto 2 DM-i takes in 3.3kW of Type 2 AC charging, going from 15 to 100% in two hours.

As for dimensions, the Atto 2 actually sits below the Sealion 5 DM-i. It measures at 4,310mm of length for the EV (4,330mm for the DM-i), 1,830mm of width, and 1,675mm of height. It rides on a 2,620mm wheelbase, and provides 150mm of ground clearance.

Whether you get the Atto 2 DM-i or EV, both share the same overall appearance, from the taller stance and its slim headlights and taillights, only having a few differences in the front bumper and grille openings.

And while the exteriors are very similar, the interior is slightly more different between the two. Both wear the usual minimalist BYD design, but with the DM-i getting a slightly updated interior with a cleaner center console layout, a relocated gear selector (steering column-mounted), and more traditional front seats instead of sport-style.

As for standard equipment on the BYD Atto 2, this is where things get a bit interesting with each variant getting their own ups and downs.

Standard on the DM-i Dynamic are full LED exterior lighting, 16-inch five-spoke gunmetal gray alloy wheels, manual-folding side mirrors, a urethane steering wheel, fabric seat upholstery, an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six-speaker audio system, and a column-mounted gear selector.

The DM-i Premium upgrades to larger 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels that also gets a gunmetal gray finish, a larger 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and the full suite of BYD’s DiPilot advanced driver-assist system (ADAS) suite.

Getting the EV gives you 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels, along with power-folding side mirrors, a two-tone Beige and Black interior with sport-style seats and leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a six-way power-adjust driver’s seat, a center console-mounted electronic gear selector, and a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system.

As for available colorways, Ski White, Harbor Gray, and Midnight Blue are available on all variants. Breeze Green is exclusive to the Atto 2 EV, and Cosmos Black is exclusive to the Atto 2 DM-i.

As mentioned earlier, only the Atto 2 DM-i Premium receives the full DiPilot ADAS suite, complete with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking, to name a few. Both that and the Atto 2 EV get a 360-degree camera and six parking sensors, while the Atto 2 DM-i Dynamic gets a rear-view camera and four parking sensors.

With the BYD Atto 2 now available in the Philippines, BYD Cars Philippines is now hitting multiple price points and types of buyers in the subcompact crossover segment. Which one are you picking, and would you get this over the likes of the Toyota Yaris Cross or other electrified crossovers, or perhaps even BYD’s own Sealion 5 DM-i which is similarly priced?
