The Kia Sportage launches in PH this coming July 24

We all know that the Kia Sportage is making its local comeback, and one thing’s for sure, the compact crossover segment that it will be fighting in is surely back and getting as competitive as ever.

Formally making its debut this coming July 24, 2026 (Friday) at the SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City, the Kia Sportage’s return to the Philippine market comes at a time when many of its rivals are receiving completely new models or heavy updates.

It also follows the footsteps of the Nissan X-Trail, which recently made its own comeback at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) last June. In the case of the Kia Sportage, it has been absent from our market since 2021 when the last iteration of the previous generation model was removed from the Korean automaker’s local lineup.

And while Kia Philippines has been teasing the Sportage on its social media pages for a few weeks now, they have remained mum on what to expect from the compact crossover’s return. Available public information does say that it will come in EX and SX variants, both with a turbocharged hybrid powertrain shared with other models from the Hyundai Motor Group such as the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sorento. You can read more about that here.

In the meantime, all we can do is wait for official specifications and features to come out, as well as pricing. But what do you think? With the compact crossover segment thriving once again with introductions of the updated Honda CR-V, all-new Toyota RAV4, and comeback of the Nissan X-Trail, would you choose the Kia Sportage over those?
