The next-generation VinFast VF 8 gets a big glow up and up to 500km of range

While we don’t have the VinFast VF 8 in our market, the Pininfarina-designed, midsize, fully electric crossover is what helped the automaker breach other markets internationally, especially the important North American market.

That vehicle, while receiving mixed reception in other places, didn’t stop VinFast from iterating and improving on said crossover, so now, we have a second-generation model already.

It ditches the Pininfarina design in favor of a new in-house design language, featuring a “black mask” that integrates an LED light strip in the VinFast signature wing-shape, with large air intakes for aerodynamic efficiency. It also rides on 19-inch wheels, and the V-shaped LED strip also extends to the rear, also housed within the black housing to give a sleeker and more modern appearance.

VinFast has also revised the interior, opting for a cleaner and more modern appearance with a separate digital instrument cluster, a widescreen 12.9-inch infotainment screen that adopts VinFast’s new Software Defined Vehicle Approach. The black leather interior benefits the five occupants, especially with a longer wheelbase of 2,840mm for more space for people and cargo.

This now has 228 horsepower and 330Nm of torque from its single front-mounted electric motor, with improved cooling and heating that works for the cabin, battery, motor, and electrical system. A new chassis structure plus a comprehensive advanced driver assistance system that aims to target a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

A 60.13kWh battery that can do up to 500km (NEDC) on a single charge, and fast charging from 10 to 70% in under 30 minutes. It also has Frequency Selective Dampers like Tesla to improve ride comfort, and a decent ground clearance of 170mm to ensure it can handle most terrain just fine.

This costs VND 999 million (~Php 2.331 million), and it will start shipping in July 2026. Do you want VinFast Philippines to introduce this to our market?
