MG Philippines partners with En Tsumugi for proper disposal of fire-affected EV units

You might remember the news about a fire incident in April last year that affected one of the vehicle stockyards of MG Motor Philippines. Fire damage to at least 200 electric vehicles in the stockyard is already a huge problem and PR nightmare, but properly disposing of them is another.

This is why the Sino-British automaker has partnered with En Tsumugi ELV Dismantling Corporation for the proper disposal and dismantling of the affected electric vehicles.

The first End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) dismantling facility in the country, En Tsumugi’s partnership with MG Motor Philippines also marks the first-ever implementation of EV dismantling and disposal in the country, requiring specialized handling and disposal procedures in compliance with global environmental standards due to their high-voltage batteries and other special components.

Safety, responsibility, and sustainability remain at the core of MG’s operations,” said MG Motor Philippines President Wei Wei Zhang. “Through this partnership with En Tsumugi, we are ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to properly manage and dispose of affected EV units in a way that upholds the highest environmental and safety standards. This reflects our long-term commitment to responsible mobility in the Philippines.”

This is not the first time an automaker partnered with En Tsumugi for vehicle disposal in the country as Toyota Motor Philippines also started a partnership with the company in 2024. These partnerships ensure that all vehicles are processed in a controlled and compliant manner, minimizing environmental impact while adhering to strict safety protocols.
