Mitsubishi to launch 13 new cars in the next five years and potentially produce multiple HEV models in PH

While the internet was very focused on the news of the revival of the Pajero, Mitsubishi Motors dropped a bombshell in its mid-to-long-term vision report yesterday, which features a lot of juicy information that should get one excited for the future of the brand.
First, from the fiscal year 2026 to 2031, the brand plans to launch 13 models, which include five HEV models and five PHEV models.

This includes the already confirmed Pajero, alongside the all-new Xpander, alongside six models in its core off-road product group: a minivan, a small SUV, a compact SUV, two SUVs, and one pickup truck.
It will also be making five new OEM models, which are probably products from the Renault-Nissan alliance. These include two BEV SUVs, one pickup truck, and two kei cars, one BEV (most likely based on the Nissan Sakura), and one wagon.

And the all-new Pajero won’t be a lone model, as it seems, as Mitsubishi said that it will be rolling it out as a series to develop a new brand, similar to before when there were different variants of the SUV.

The three silhouettes in the slide above show that, alongside the main flagship model that was teased yesterday, there will be another SUV and a smaller model, which most likely debunks the theory that the Pajero/Montero Sport has been merged into the main model, and also could potentially signal the return of the Pajero Mini.

More interestingly, the Philippines is now listed as one of the automaker’s high-value, priority countries alongside Vietnam and Japan, considering how we’ve constantly been one of the brand’s largest markets.
Because of this, two of the main goals for the regional and sales strategy include producing new HEV models locally, and expanding sales of higher-priced vehicles through broader sales finance offerings.

The former raises a bit of an eyebrow, as we already know that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has joined the Philippine government’s Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy (EVIS) program to locally produce a new hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) model.

As we know, Mitsubishi Motors has two HEV models within the ASEAN region, which are the Xpander HEV (the Xpander Cross is considered a variant) and Xforce HEV, the latter of which Mitsubishi Motors Philippines could be showing off at this upcoming Philippine International Motor Show if its teaser is to be believed.

As for the latter, it’s obvious that one of the first few “higher priced models” that they’ll be pushing in our region is the upcoming Outlander PHEV, which is all but pretty much awaiting an official debut. Are you excited to see Mitsubishi Motors’ resurgence and future plans?
