PIMS 2026 | Nissan PH previews new Kicks e-Power, Primera EV, Navara Pro PHEV

In a bid to recover lost ground, Nissan Philippines is pulling out an offensive at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). Alongside the much-awaited return of the X-Trail nameplate in our market, the Japanese automaker also previewed a trio of new electrified models for our market.

Set to make their Philippine debut in the coming months are the refreshed Kicks e-Power subcompact crossover, the Primera midsize electric sedan, and the Navara Pro plug-in hybrid pickup truck.

Let’s start with the refreshed Nissan Kicks e-Power which is now available for reservation and will be launching this coming July 2026. We first saw this at its unveiling at the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show last March, and brings a much needed update to the aging subcompact crossover.

Based on the Brazilian market Nissan Kait, its exterior has been almost completely redesigned, save for the roof and doors. The front fascia is sleeker and more futuristic with a split headlight design and a large grille, and the interior is more upmarket with more soft-touch surfaces and added technology.

Final specifications for our market have not yet been announced but we can expect the outgoing version’s e-Power hybrid system to be carried over, a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that powers a 2.06kWh lithium-ion battery and electric motor. Combined system output is still the same at 136 horsepower and 280Nm of torque.

Next is the Nissan Primera which resurrects a classic Nissan nameplate through an all-electric midsize sedan. Potentially competing with the likes of the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal once it launches here, this is essentially the Chinese-market N7 built by Dongfeng Nissan.

While official specifications have not been officially revealed, available public information tell us that it will be powered by a single electric motor that produces 218 horsepower and 305Nm of torque, paired to a 60kWh lithium-ion battery that allows for up to 500km of range.

It could also come equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, electric door handles, leather seat upholstery, quad-zone automatic climate control, a column-mounted gear selector, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

As for the Nissan Navara Pro, this is essentially the Frontier Pro, also built by Dongfeng Nissan just like the Primera. Once launched locally, it will compete directly with the BYD Shark 6 DMO and Changan Nevo Hunter K50.

Information on this is limited, but the Chinese market version gets a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. This is capable of a combined 402 horsepower and 800Nm of torque, providing up to 135km of electric only range.

Possible equipment include 18-inch alloy wheels, 10-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, along with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, a rear multi-link suspension, intelligent all-wheel drive, and an electromechanical rear differential lock.

These are certainly interesting times for the Nissan brand in the Philippines. The new Kicks e-Power is expected, but the future introductions of the Primera and Navara Pro will mark the first time that Nissan Philippines will source vehicles from China, showing how the automotive landscape has really changed.

Are you excited for the new Nissan Kicks e-Power, the Primera EV, and the Navara Pro PHEV? If you already want to see them in the metal, you can check them out at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show, happening until June 7, 2026 (Sunday) at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
