PIMS 2026 | Subaru PH expands electrified lineup with new Crosstrek Hybrid

At Subaru Philippines’ first-ever time to participate in the Philippine International Motor Show, the automaker launches the long-awaited Crosstrek Hybrid 2.0 i-S EyeSight Hybrid AWD CVT, priced at Php 1,998,000.

This joins the Forester HEV as this is the automaker’s second electrified offering, where it brings the e-Boxer Hybrid System to the familiar Crosstrek, which touts improved fuel economy.

It uses a 2.0-liter flat-four boxer gasoline engine with an electric motor that produces 16 horsepower and 66Nm of torque, mated to a 0.57kWh lithium-ion battery. Total power output is 150 horsepower and 196Nm of torque, with the Lineartronic CVT sending power through Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD with the Dual X-Mode traction system, and a generous 220mm of ground clearance.

It looks identical to the standard Crosstrek with its signature style of lots of black plastic cladding, but it has unique touches such as aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheels, beefed-up roof rails, extra garnishing around the fog lamps, hybrid badges, and exclusive colors in Citron Yellow Pearl and Sand Dune Pearl.

Inside, it still has a familiar black leather interior, but the driver’s seat now has 10-way power adjustments with lumbar support, a power sunroof, aluminum pedals, “mountain range” motif sill plates, and the usual dual analog gauge cluster with a small screen in the middle and a 11.6-inch portrait infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, plus a 10W wireless phone charger.

Being a Subaru, it comes with the EyeSight suite of advanced driver assistance systems, now on version 4.0 with an upgraded wide-angle monocular camera with improved detection for pedestrians and bicycles, and the Emergency Driving Stop System, which safely brings the car to a stop if it detects an incapacitated driver.

Do you think this is the right move for Subaru Philippines to slowly electrify its lineup, or should it take a more radical approach by introducing its full-electric offerings like the Solterra, Getaway, e-Outback, and Uncharted?
