LOOK: Bonifacio Global City adds four new electric buses to its fleet

We all focus too much on the electrification of the automotive industry, so we also tend to forget about the public infrastructure of our country. While we know that buses are one of the bigger forms of public transportation, most of these are diesel-fed models.

Back in 2025, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) introduced its first-ever electric bus in the Higer KLQ6126GEV “Azure”, which is part of the BGC Bus fleet that connects BGC to other places within Taguig, Makati, and the Gil Puyat LRT station. Now, the operator has added four new units of the Higer “Azure” to its fleet.
At the moment, there are no definite bus schedules for these new electric buses (which is a pain point for BGC commuters as seen on social media), but these are low-floor city buses capable of carrying up to 32 to 40 passengers, alongside features like CCTVs, PWD ramps, and other safety features that make commuting an easier affair.

Other cities, such as Quezon City also feature electric city buses like the Golden Dragon XML6125JEV with a similar set of features, and we’ve been seeing fully electric and diesel-hybrid buses ply longer routes such as Paranaque to Bataan, or San Fernando to Cubao.

It’s nice to see these mass people movers that are also meant for city routes switch over to more cleaner, modernized options as the country sorts out its other public transportation woes.
