The BYD Sealion 7 is an electric performance crossover with 530 horsepower

The BYD Sealion 7 is finally making its official launch after being previewed last April at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show alongside its smaller EV sibling, the Atto 2.
The performance-oriented EV will be priced at Php 2,588,000, which puts it squarely in line with the likes of the Tesla Model Y and the Toyota bZ4x, two of the more popular compact five-seater EV crossovers.

The Sealion 7’s claim to fame is its performance chops, as BYD Cars Philippines calls this its “flagship performance EV”. Thanks to its dual-motor, all-wheel drive system, it produces 530 horsepower and 690Nm of torque. The Sealion 7 can propel itself to 100kph in around 4.5 seconds, but we’ve seen the car hit 100kph in less.

It packs a large 82.56kWh Blade Battery that can drive up to 542km on a single charge, and it can easily be topped up via DC fast charging at speeds of up to 150kW, taking 32-34 minutes to bring it from 10 to 80%. AC charging goes up to 11kW, and there is support for Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities.

As part of BYD’s Ocean Series lineup, the Sealion 7 has very similar aesthetics to the likes of the Sealion 6 DM-i and Seal EV, albeit in a fastback crossover silhouette that measures 4,830mm long, 1,925mm wide, and 1,620mm tall.

It features large 20-inch wheels with massive drilled brakes, and your typical affair of modern car features such as full LED lighting, hidden door handles, a panoramic glass roof, and a hands-free power tailgate with a small ducktail spoiler.
It’s available in four colors: Shark Grey, Aurora White, Cosmos Black, and Deep Sea Blue.

The interior is also on the luxurious end of the BYD Ocean spectrum, featuring eight-way power adjustable, ventilated sports seats, all-black leather upholstery with quilting both front and back, and dynamic ambient lighting to spruce the cabin up and dual-zone climate control to keep the car cool. There’s also a generous amount of storage with a 500L boot with extra storage underneath, and a 58L front trunk.

Tech includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a 50W fast wireless charger, a heads-up display, and audio is piped through a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system. It also supports the BYD App and an NFC key card.

It comes with the full suite of the DiPilot advanced driver assistance system on top of standard safety features, so you can expect your usual features of adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection and rear cross traffic alert, to name a few. On top of that, there is a 360-degree camera, and a Driver Attention Monitor by the A-pillar speaker that helps monitor if you are drowsy or incapacitated.

Like all other BYDs, this comes with a six-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty (whichever comes first), an eight-year or 150,000km battery and drive unit warranty (whichever comes first), plus BYD Cars Philippines will throw in a free 7kW home wall charger, a free portable charger.
While most of BYD Cars Philippines’ strengths lie in the mass-market offerings, it’s nice to see them cater to niche markets with halo products such as these, especially considering the amount of competitors coming in every year.
